In June of 2000, after more
than thirty years of diagnosing and treating children, adolescents and adults with ADHD, Harry D. Verby, M.D. retired
from his pediatrics practice and has since devoted himself
solely to the diagnosis and treatment of ADD/ADHD and its associated medical conditions.
Dr. Verby’s experience in dealing with ADHD in his patients as well as his own family motivated him to establish
the Behavioral Medical Clinic in San Mateo, California. He wanted to create a clinic with a caring atmosphere where ADD/ADHD patients could turn to for the best
diagnosis and latest innovations in treating the disease.
Harry D. Verby, M.D.: “So many people fall through the cracks because
of an inadequate or wrong diagnosis. ADHD can lead to more serious problems in
later life—including academic failure, professional work underachievement, marital stress, higher divorce rate, trouble
with interpersonal relationships, substance abuse, and higher traffic accident and fatality rate. The key is early diagnosis. If these disorders are detected
early, many of these problems can be prevented.”
Dr. Verby provides a comprehensive
clinical evaluation that includes a review of educational history, medical history, social interactions, along with a
wide-ranging battery of standard diagnostic tests for ADHD, mood disorders and learning disabilities. He conducts an extensive face-to-face evaluation of the patient, but also seeks input from family, significant
others, friends and teachers/co-workers for a complete view of the patient’s condition.
Dr. Verby is a nationally recognized
expert in medication management for ADD/ADHD patients. He is a regular speaker
at medical symposiums, lecturing physician groups on the latest pharmacological innovations in ADD/ADHD treatment. In his practice, he also prescribes a comprehensive treatment plan that includes nutrition, exercise, dietary
supplements, psychological counseling, educational accommodations, ADHD coaching, Medications, and other treatment modalities,
as applicable for each patient.
